Killing Nehru And Gandhi Again

Killing Nehru And Gandhi Again

Krishna | Wed Jan 16 2019

Gandhiji killed for the second time. Nathuram used bullets and this time weapon used was social media. Truth is very subjective but a man thinks his version of the truth is the only possible and correct version. Everybody who has read on the social media various stories and ‘truth’ regarding Gandhi and Nehru, lives in a perception that what he has read, nobody has read it, and what he knows (as it happens to be the ‘truth’ and ‘secrets’ for him, it) becomes a luxury, and he starts to concrete his version of the story as they become dear to him, and as he believes they make him an intellectual sort of a person. Everybody is a born commentator in India but expertise is seldom found and who is an expert he by default becomes the chairperson of the debating society. And this expertise is neither regarding facts and figures nor concerned with giving references, it’s about sensationalism. The man who can create more sensational stories becomes the man of the moment and movement. Ravana initially would have had only one head, then as the stories would be retold, the number of faces would have kept on increasing. Now you might ask me, why only ten faces, because(and maybe) those sensation mongers, would have known to count only till ten digits or maybe it would have become too complex for them to keep the number increasing, so they settled, at that point, where their intellectual limit ended. What can be more sensational than a person, who never read a history book, talking about Edwina Mountbatten- Nehru affairs? Commenting on Gandhi and even aware of Gandhi’s sensuality as if he slept with Gandhi and in his ears, Gandhi whispered, ‘I love Jinnah’. But the information that the young guns of India possess about their national leaders, is too raw and crude.

Shourie estranged intellectual from BJP, who is now the darling of Media (for taking his party head-on) and will remain so for a fortnight, killed Ambedkar way back in his book, ‘Worshiping the false God.’ He pitted an apathetic Ambedkar, against the ‘holly’, ‘great’, ‘saint’ Gandhi. Ambedkar was not concerned even with the life of Gandhi, Shourie maintains, when Gandhi was on fast unto death and as Shourie self-proclaims that though nobody in public, eminent people praised him and even agreed with what he had to say, off records. Gandhi was used against Ambedkar so that Ambedkar could be killed.

Now that same Gandhi is used as an improvised self-destructive mean, to attack the Gandhi legacy and on the ruins of his character, there is already Patel in the ascending. The newly manufactured weapon of Patel is then aimed at Nehru and Nehru’s character contains enough inflammatory content to keep itself burning even in time to come. And maybe to counter Patel, the new version of the third front led by Mulayam, blessed by Kejriwal, supported by Mamta, projecting Nitish, crediting Rahul Gandhi might shoot from the hips of evergreen Lalu, bring back Maulana Azad to life to confront Patel (they might get some content from Maulana’s book India wins Freedom). And this musical chair of killing a great leader by another great leader will continue till we are left with no leader to kill.

Akbar against Rana Pratap, Tipu v/s Shivaji… one by one we not only losing them (as followers of a particular character will stop believing and respecting the other) we are creating a vacuum by studying and giving a retrospective interpretation to the past events suiting to our taste and preferences. Tomorrow when future generation will look at the past of India from the prism of the present books and psyche, either they will fail to understand our rich history or they will stare at an abyss of darkness.
